On February 2003, Dave Mustaine announced his departure as an endorsee for Jackson Guitars, who until then manufactured Jackson Y2KV Dave Mustaine Signature Series.
On July 2003, Dave Mustaine attended the summer NAMM convention in Nashville to unveil his new signature guitar: ESP DV8 Dave Mustaine Series.
About the pickups he uses, Dave Mustaine said: "All of my guitars are loaded with Seymour Duncan pickups. I have a JB Trembucker in the bridge position and a JB humbucker in the neck position."
